Everette Sands is one of the greatest college football players the history of The Citadel and currently serves as an offensive skills analyst with his alma mater. He is not Vince Young, despite what golf reporter Lauren Withrow thought at the BMW Pro-Am earlier this weekend.
The hilariously awkward mixup led to an incredible photo with the former University of Texas quarterback on Saturday morning.
It was a brilliant full-circle moment that came together through social media. Believe it or not, the internet occasionally gets one right!
Sands joined the senior military college’s football staff last season after rising through the ranks on both the collegiate and NFL levels. As a local legend, he was invited to participate in the BMW Pro-Am at Thornblade Club in Greer, South Carolina this weekend. Of course, the answer was yes!
Here is where things get uncomfortable.
Sands was walking the course on Friday and was approached by Withrow of the Golf Channel for an interview. She was horribly mistaken about his identity. She thought that he was Young.
Even though Sands handled the mixup with tremendous grace, the interview quickly went off of the rails. It has since gone viral all over the internet. Everette Sands and Vince Young are two very different people!

Despite all of the confusion, Sands and Young were able to laugh at the confusion. Neither guy was offended. Neither guy got upset about Withrow’s blunder, which she owned.
Rather, they embraced the hilarity and joined together for a photo!
It is very funny that Withrow and the Golf Channel crew mistook Sands — who is not a particularly large guy — for a former NFL quarterback who stands 6-foot-5, 232 pounds. Somebody in the production truck or on the course with the reporter should’ve been able to catch that one!
