A high school basketball announcer is going viral Wednesday after an incredible call at the end of a game. The announcement had little to do with the team’s big win, though.
Instead, he and the students in attendance went absolutely crazy after learning that school had been cancelled the following day. The reaction online has been incredible.
The scene took place in a Michigan gym, where the West Catholic Hawkeyes had just put the finishing touches on a 57-45 victory. As players formed their postgame handshake lines, it was revealed that there would be no class the next day.
In a video now circulating social media, you can see the superintendent, Dr. Lusk, walk over to inform the crowd of the happy news. The arena instantly erupted.
Here’s the snow day call in all its glory with sophomore Aiden Lynch on the mic.
Thereβs no better way to inform the students of a snow day than at the end of a big boys basketball win. Way to go, Dr. Lusk!

The clip has since taken off online, with many both re-posting and writing reactions.
One follower wrote, “This is amazing,” while another commented, “Everything about this is A+.”
The broadcaster, Lynch, didn’t foresee the snow day call blowing up like it did.
“When I made that call live, I had no idea it would change my life.”
The Hamilton Community Schools Twitter account posted a comical video on social media recapping the call after the fact.
What a crazy evening for the students of Hamilton after Dr. Lusk’s snow day announcement at the boys basketball game.
