Viral Photo Of Bryce Young Meeting His Carolina Panthers Teammates Show Just How Small He Is

The Carolina Panthers are pinning the future of their franchise on Bryce Young.

Carolina selected Young with the first pick of the 2023 NFL Draft over fellow quarterbacks CJ Stroud, Anthony Richardson and Will Levis.

But it wasn’t an easy decision.

Many believed the Panthers would opt for Stroud over Young due to one significant difference: size.

Stroud measured in at 6-foot-3, 214 pounds at the NFL Draft Combine. Young, meanwhile, checked in at just 5-foot-10 and 204 pounds.

To his credit, Young does not appear bothered by his short stature.

“I’m confident in my abilities,” Young said prior to the draft. “I don’t know how to play the game another way. I’ve been this size relative to the people around me my entire life. I focus on what I control, and I can’t grow. That doesn’t fall into that category, I can’t get any taller. I focus on myself. I’m confident in myself with what I’ve been able to do and I’m excited for the work it’s going to take.”

Ultimately, Carolina decided the Alabama product was just too good to pass up, even if the concerns about his size remain.

Young met with his new teammates on Sunday and toured the Panthers locker room. One photo, in particular, caught the eyes of NFL fans everywhere.

That was Young meeting up with Carolina defensive end Brian Burns. Burns, a two-time Pro Bowler at defensive end, is listed at 6-foot-5, 250 pounds. That’s seven inches and nearly 50 pounds larger than Young, and it looked every bit of both in the photo.

The picture shows the challenges Young will face both throwing over defensive linemen and taking hits. Fans couldn’t help but express their shock over the photo.

Ultimately, only time will tell whether Young can hold up in the NFL. But he’s clearly got a tall (literally) task ahead of him.
