If you did not know Ivan Fears before, it will be impossible to root against him after seeing a video of him after the Patriots’ AFC Wild Card loss on Saturday. Fears, 67, is a 31-year coaching veteran who has primarily been with New England since 1991.

There was a short five-year stint where he spent time with Chicago, but Fears returned back to Massachusetts in 1999 and has served as the running backs position coach under Bill Belichick since 2002. Needless to say, he knows the game, he knows the organization, he knows his players and he knows how to coach.

Although the game is largely about Xs and Os, there is a lot of football that goes beyond the gridiron. The players and their coaches become family and it’s often much bigger than just a game.

Take Saturday for example. After the Patriots lost to the Bills in blowout fashion, running back Damien Harris went over to Fears and gave him a big hug.

A video from NFL Films shows the two of them, mic’d up, sharing an emotional embrace. Fears offered Harris some incredible words of encouragement as they expressed how much they love one another.

“You’re a different man than you were when you walked in here, son,” Fears said.

“All because of you,” Harris replied. “Thank you for everything”

Fears, who epitomizes everything that a coach should be, is remarkably humble. He couldn’t accept Harris’ praises and joked “I don’t know about that!”

The incredible moment will have you big in your feels, take a look and listen:
