Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is not only the son of an MLB Hall of Famer, but he is on his way to following in his father’s footsteps. The 23-year-old slugger led the league in runs scored, home runs and a few other statistical categories in 2021 and finished second in the MVP race.

As he enters his fourth season with the Blue Jays, Guerrero Jr. is going to be an integral part of a lineup that should be pretty dangerous. And when he does take the field, he is going to be a lot lighter on his feet — literally.

Guerrero Jr.’s personal trainer, Jose Fortuna, shared before and after photos of his client’s offseason weight loss and it is not just a little, it’s a lot. The Toronto third baseman dropped 22 pounds while cutting down his frame and adding more muscle.

In the post, Fortuna credited part of Guerrero Jr.’s transformation to his teammate Teoscar Hernandez for pushing the young slugger and holding him accountable.

Take a look at Vlad Guerrero Jr.’s impressive 2022 offseason weight transformation:

Now, this is not the first time that Guerrero Jr. has dropped a large amount of weight. Ahead of the 2021 season, the then-22-year-old cut 42 pounds during the offseason.

Being 261 pounds or heavier is a lot of weight for anybody to carry around, let alone someone who is scoring 123 runs. Now that he has dropped to about 240 pounds, Guerrero Jr. is going to be quicker around the bases and even more dangerous in the field.

That’s a scary thought.
