After campaigning for months to have NFL Hall of Famer Warren Sapp join the Colorado Buffaloes staff, Deion Sanders appears to have finally gotten his wish.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers legend Warren Sapp appeared to announce the move himself on Instagram with several posts over the weekend showing him boarding a plane to Boulder and arriving on campus. Another clip (below) also showed Sapp in a team meeting.

This move came less than three months after a statement in January from Steve Hurlbert, a spokesman for CU Boulder, said “there have been no conversations about hiring Warren Sapp for an assistant coach position at the University of Colorado.”

That statement was made after head coach Deion Sanders had twice signaled his intention to hire Sapp but there was pushback related to domestic violence incidents in Sapp’s past, he took a plea in a battery case in 2015. Sanders appears to have gotten his Hall of Fame hire regardless of past transgressions, and despite Deion being an former Florida State Seminole and Warren Sapp having played for the Miami Hurricanes.

Sapp shared multiple social media posts from his journey to Boulder:

Given the timing of all this, leading up to April Fools’ Day, it’s reasonable to be skeptical about the hire. However, there was video of Warren Sapp in a Colorado Buffaloes team meeting that also announces him as the new Senior Quality Control Analyst in Boulder:

As of the time of publication, Warren Sapp is still not listed on the CU Boulder football staff page along with the five other Quality Control Analysts on the staff. But that could change and be nothing more than a formality as he appears to have only arrived on campus in the past 48 hours.
