Washington Huskies Football Adds Yet Another Son Of Famous NFL Figure To New Coaching Staff

Washington Football Staff belichick Carroll Del Rio Lynch

Jedd Fisch is assembling a very famous staff at the University of Washington. However, their fathers are actually far more famous than the assistant coaches themselves.

It’s a really unique dynamic that we have not seen in college football!

Bill Belichick remains unemployed. His son, Steve, is not.

The 36-year-old spent last season coaching linebackers with the New England Patriots. He will spend next season as the Huskies’ defensive coordinator. It marks his first opportunity to call a defense.

That’s one NFL son! There are still three more.

Not long after Fisch hired Belichick as defensive coordinator, he hired Brennan Carroll to run his offense. Brennan is the son of Pete Carroll, who also remains unemployed after being let go by the Seahawks.

Fisch brought Brennan with him from Arizona. He will keep the same title of offensive coordinator and offensive line coach.

Two down, two to go!

In addition to Carroll and Belichick, Fisch hired Luke Del Rio. The 29-year-old son of Jack Del Rio played quarterback at Alabama, Oregon State and Florida from 2013-2017. He joins the Washington staff as an offensive analyst after serving in the same role for the Commanders. His dad is also unemployed after being fired as their defensive coordinator in November.

One more! This most recent hire first broke on Saturday. It is not yet official.

Fisch is adding Jake Lynch as a defensive assistant. Jake was born to Pro Football Hall of Fame safety John Lynch, who has served as the General Manager of the San Francisco 49ers since 2017. He played four years of linebacker at Stanford.

No staff in college football is built like Washington. Both coordinators are the sons of legendary NFL coaches who won a Super Bowl in the last decade. That doesn’t include Del Rio or Lynch!
