Clairton football has not suspended Wayne Wade.
Wayne Wade has not been suspended as head coach of the Clairton High School football team. He will be on the sidelines when the Bears play their next game.
That contest will not come on September 4th as originally scheduled. The school has forfeited its matchup with Steel Valley on Friday, fueling rumors of internal chaos.
Noise of coaching staff drama surfaced earlier this week. It alluded to Wade being forced to step down, at least momentarily. That is not the case according to the school.
Clairton football is a Pennsylvania powerhouse.
The Bears play in Clairton, Pennsylvania, part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area along the Monongahela River. It has a population of around 6,000 residents and is located 15 miles south of the Steel City.

Clairton is a local powerhouse. It won a state title just last year. Over the last three season, the Bears are 38-5. It’s continued a rich history of success at the high school level.
In 2012, the program set a Pennsylvania record for consecutive wins, racking up straight 60 victories en route to four state championships.
All of that goes to say that Clairton is typically stable and consistent. That starts at the top. Wayne Wade has led the program for 13 seasons. He was nominated by the Steelers as the Don Shula NFL High School Coach of the Year just last year.
That made rumors about his future all the more head scratching after a season opening loss.

Clairton will not play Steel Valley on Friday. It has forfeited the game. The school put out an announcement on the cancellation Wednesday. There was no specific reason given, though “personnel matters” were mentioned.
While the school did not go into detail about the forfeiture, its post shut down any speculation surrounding Wayne Wade’s job status.
Rumors of a possible suspension or firing began circulating after last week’s 33-6 loss to Farrell. The X account WPIAL Insider attempted to provide some clarity after the forfeiture announcement. Something happened last week. We’re just not sure of what it is.
It is tough when all the facts aren’t out and you can’t comment/opine without school districts getting upset.
But the situation stems from something that happened during their last game. The entire staff is in Wade’s corner. I believe the school is just looking to get all facts.
The school has not opened up on the off-field rumors. The Clairton City School District did release a statement to parents this week.

We want to clarify the football season has not been cancelled by Clairton City School District. Reports claiming the district cancelled or suspended the season, or the coaching staff are incorrect. This is misinformation.
Practices and games should continue as scheduled.
That came one day before the forfeiture, which would seemingly dispute CCSD’s assertion that all is well. What we do know, for now, is that Wayne Wade is still the Bears’ football coach. The school is scrambling to quiet the noise.
