Virtually in tandem with the start of the New York Jets training camp, future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers restructured his contract to give the team an extra $35 million.

Speaking to Kay Adams on her Up & Adams radio show, the 39-year-old four-time NFL MVP detailed why he decided to restructure his contract, saying that he’s already getting paid plenty of money and that the millions he gave back will allow the team to make additional roster moves.

“I’m getting paid a lot of money, I feel great about it. Also, the team is going to be able to do some things. Win, win, win, win. You know, there was a guy here [Dalvin Cook] at practice yesterday. We’ll see what happens. There’s other guys out there that might be available,” Rodgers said.

“Listen, I’m not missing that money at all. I’m loving what I’m getting paid, I’m loving being in New York and New Jersey, and I’m loving working with guys I know and some of the new guys like Mecole [Hardman] and Garrett [Wilson].

Naturally, Rodgers’ team-first attitude has won over fans of Gang Green, who are looking to break the longest postseason drought in the NFL and qualify for the playoffs for the first time since the 2010 campaign.

If the Jets do add someone like Cook to their backfield or any other additional pieces to their offense, which already looks formidable (on paper), the team’s odds to contend for a Super Bowl will surely increase.

At this time, the Jets have the seventh-shortest odds to lift the Lombardi trophy next season, which trails only the Kansas City Chiefs, Philadelphia Eagles, Buffalo Bills, San Francisco 49ers, Cincinnati Bengals, and Dallas Cowboys.

The Jets will open their season about six weeks from today with a Monday Night Football matchup against the Buffalo Bills, who have won their division for three straight seasons.
