Terrible Wimbledon Takes Exposed Following Carlos Alcaraz’s Comeback Win Over Novak Djokovic

In case you missed it, the Wimbledon Gentlemen’s Singles Final between Novak Djokovic and newly-crowned champion Carlos Alcaraz. The 20-year-old Spaniard won in a five set thriller, announcing a changing of the guard at last from the big 3 of Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, and Roger Federer to a younger generation.

The match was an absolute classic. Total points in the match were 168 for Alcaraz and 166 for Djokovic. The most memorable moment of the match was an astounding, 13-deuce, 27-minute game at 3-1 in the third set, with the match tied at one set all.

And, after four hours and forty-six minutes, Carlos Alcaraz finally became Wimbledon Champion, denying Djokovic a record-tying eighth Wimbledon and 24th grand slam.

But, early on, it looked like Djokovic would win Wimbledon once again. He dominated his younger foe in the first set, 6-1, and people on Twitter were giving Alcaraz no shot. Here are some of the best cold takes exposed.

With the win, Carlos Alcaraz becomes the first player other than Federer, Djokovic, Nadal, and Andy Murray to win Wimbledon since Lleyton Hewitt in 2002.
