Just when you thought the Caitlin Clark-Angel Reese discourse couldn’t get any worse, WNBA fans have seemingly taken it to another level. Fans are calling NBA superstar LeBron James a race traitor after he praised Clark for her season-opening triple-double in a 93-58 victory over Reese and the Chicago Sky.
Clark, who many believe is a potential WNBA MVP candidate in just her second season in the league, put up 20 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists in the blowout victory. In doing so, she already tied Candace Parker for the third-most triple-doubles in league history.
TRIPLE DUB CC!! Great way to kick off the season! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

WNBA Fans Go Off On LeBron James Because He Praised Caitlin Clark Triple-Double
It was an impressive feat, and James took to social media in order to recognize just that. But his otherwise innocuous post on X, in which he wrote “TRIPLE DUB CC!! Great way to kick off the season!” quickly became something so much more.
Kobe was a star that seemed to become a better person with age. Stayed outta BS. Had projects he was working on, was actively investing in the WNBA, beyond just tweeting about it…

The replies and quotes in response to James’ tweet were littered with angry comments. Many of them stated that James doesn’t support black women enough and that he hates Angel Reese. Ironically, a quick search shows that James has posted plenty of tweets supporting reigning WNBA MVP A’Ja Wilson.
The Clark-Reese debate has always been driven by racial undertones. And the WNBA did recently announce an investigation into Indiana Fever fans regarding alleged racially disparaging remarks about Reese. So it’s not likely to go away anytime soon. But it’s clear that James was just praising Clark, a remarkable player, for having a remarkable game. If he can’t even do that anymore, then what are we even doing here?
