Sometimes, not always, but sometimes, you have to go full send. And that is exactly what Matt Whitson (aka @mattsjumps) just did when he pulled off the “biggest waterslide launch in the world” according to him.
For this epic jump, Matt dropped down a 65ft slide on a board then launched himself 45ft in the air with so much hang time it seemed like it might never come down.
Is This The Biggest Waterslide Launch Of All-Time?
I have to admit that I was not familiar with Matt Whitson’s game until this video. But he instantly gained a follower from me after seeing this clip from two angles.
His first video has gone truly viral with 19 million views in just 2+ days. He posted a second video, both are below, with an angle from the side showing just how high he gets. That video already has racked up over 4.4 million views in under 24 hours.
In total, we’re talking over 23.4 million views on a waterslide launch in just over two days. That’s nuts when you consider that this is far from a mainstream activity, and he currently only has around 309K followers on Instagram so this video is being shared everywhere around the world.
This first clip show his point of view from the waterslide with a helmet camera. It is the one that has 19+ million views in the first two days. Check it out:
Insane stuff, right? Now check it out from the side. It’s just as crazy from this angle IMHO.
Coincidentally, I was at a water park yesterday in Southern Maine and found myself thinking a few times ‘this slide is probably too fast for some of the people that ride it’ and then I see these clips later in the day and my ego was checked. I cannot even fathom the G-Force that was created at the bottom of that waterslide launch. The skin on his face must’ve been falling to the ground.
