WWE superstar Becky Lynch made her long-awaited return to the ring at WrestleMania 41, winning the women’s tag team titles alongside partner and fellow Irishwoman Lyra Valkyria. Lynch left the company in May of 2024 and took an extended period off to be home with her daughter Roux, whom she had with fellow WWE star Seth Rollins in 2020. She made a surprise return to the ring on Sunday night, replacing fellow star Bayley in the match, but not everyone was happy about it.

Prior to the match, reports began to circulate that Bayley, who had been ruled out with an injury, was not actually injured. Those same claimed that she was pushed aside in order to make a spot for Lynch. Lynch, of course, then went on to win the match. This led to several fans calling her “Becky Hogan,” a comparison to controversial WWE legend Hulk Hogan who was notorious for changing scripts and refusing to lose matches.

Becky Lynch’s WWE WrestleMania Return Leads Fans To Believe Bayley Got Cast Aside

Of course, those same people fail to acknowledge that Lynch lost the women’s world title to Liv Morgan on her way out of the company a year ago. But the criticism isn’t entire unfair. Bayley, like Lynch, is one of the company’s biggest women’s stars after has spent the last year putting other talent over. Additionally, she and Lynch are (or were) friends outside of the ring. So it seems a bit odd that Lynch would be so willing to push Bayley aside.

But wrestling is and always has been a cutthroat industry, and Lynch is one of the biggest stars in it male or female. So it’s not a surprise that the WWE wanted to vault her to the top of the card immediately upon return. And who knows, maybe this leads to a Bayley-Becky Lynch feud down the line.
