WrestleMania 41 ended on Sunday night with John Cena winning a record-setting 17th WWE Championship as he stood tall over defending champion Cody Rhodes. The match involved a brief cameo from superstar rapper Travis Scott, but it’s who the match did not involve that had fans talking. That person, of course, is WWE legend The Rock.
The former WWE star turned big-time Hollywood actor kicked off the Rhodes-Cena feud by convincing the latter to turn heel (become a bad guy, for those who are unaware) for the first time in his career. The storyline was that Cena wanted to winning his record-setting 17th title and was happy to do so by any means necessary, even if it meant help from corporate. The Rock currently serves as a director on the TKO Group Holdings board, the company that owns WWE.

However, after Cena turned heel and joined The Rock at WWE Elimination Chamber, The Rock was nowhere to be scene. He didn’t appear in any of the buildup for the match and fans assumed that he would surely be at WrestleMania.
When a fan on Instagram asked The Rock about rumors that he wasn’t working WrestleMania 41, he told them “don’t believe any of that bullsh-t.” He then proceeded to not appear on the show, and fans are furious.
“The Rock is the biggest fraud in the history of professional wrestling,” one fan tweeted. “This man does not care about this business at all, he only comes back for his convenience. Truly an awful company man.”
“The Rock politicked a Cena heel turn so he could be involved and didn’t even show up to the match itself,” said another.
The ending to the show was widely panned by both diehard wrestling fans and casual fans alike. Especially when you consider Cena is working a limited schedule as well.
