The Carolina Panthers have had a whirlwind 2024 NFL season. But despite a 4-11 record, things seem to finally be trending in the right direction. Second-year quarterback Bryce Young regained the starting position and doesn’t look like a complete disaster. Chuba Hubbard has established himself as one of the best young running backs in the league, and rookie wideout Xavier Legette has become an online sensation.
Legette, whom the Panthers selected with the last pick in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, has been solid on the field. He has 41 catches for 439 yards and four touchdowns. But off the field is where Leggete has truly shone.
The Mullins, South Carolina native has fascinated fans and media alike with his extremely country ways. That includes his dining habits.
Legette shocked fans and media members recently when he revealed that he and his family enjoy eating raccoon on Thanksgiving and Christmas. On Thursday, the 23-year-old star even went so far as to bring in leftovers for his teammates and media members to try.

Ironically, Legette told reporters that he doesn’t eat the vegetable that are normally served alongside the raccoon because they’re too “exotic.” He then showed reported a container of pulled meat that almost looked similar to pork.
Local beat reporter Sheena Quick was one of the few brave souls willing to try the raccoon, and she even gave a shockingly good review!
Ultimately, Legette will be judged primarily by his play on the field. But his presence in the Carolina locker room is already a success. You can see how much he enjoys being around his teammates and vice versa. That isn’t always the case with a young wide receiver! Especially one selected in the first round.
So here’s hoping he can continue to ball out in the future and we get to learn more about Legette’s exceedingly country lifestyle.
