Yankees Fans React To News Of Top Prospect Jasson Dominguez’s Devastating Injury

The New York Yankees have had a no good, very bad 2023 MLB season.

The Yankees and their fans entered the season with high hopes, having won 99 games the year prior, re-signed American League MVP Aaron Judge, and added ace Carlos Rodon to the rotations.

But things quickly fell apart for New York and it currently sits in last place in the AL East, nearly 20 games behind the resurgent Baltimore Orioles.

But there was a bright spot!

That bright spot came in form of rookie slugger Jasson Dominguez.

Dominguez, an extremely highly touted Dominican prospect, signed as international free agent in 2019 $5.1 million signing bonus.

After a few seasons in the minors, the lefty finally made his Major League debut on Sept. 1 against the Houston Astros.

And what a debut it was. Dominguez homered in his first career at-bad against future Hall of Famer Justin Verlander.

That quickly became a common theme for Dominguez, who launched four home runs in his first seven MLB appearances.

But like everything else this season, it quickly turned bleak for the Yankees and their fans.

Dominguez was a late scratch for Sunday’s game with the Brewers, and it turns out the reason was far worse than any could’ve imagined.

Matt Snyder of CBS Sports reports that the star rookie suffered a torn UCL. The injury most commonly results in Tommy John Surgery.

While the injury is most common among pitchers and usually keeps them out over a year, it also plagues position players. Philadelphia Phillies star Bryce Harper had surgery to repair the same injury in November. He returned six months later in May, but was only able to DH at the time.

Yankees fans were apoplectic upon hearing the news.

I would tell you to hug your nearest Yankees fan, but it’s hard to feel bad for a fan base with 27 championships.

Let’s just hope Dominguez gets healthy and is back to hitting dingers in 2024.
