New York Jets QB Zach Wilson Says He Intends To ‘Make Life Hell’ For Teammate

The Zach Wilson experiment in New York didn’t just fail, it blew up and set off all the fire alarms like a bad middle school science fair project.

The Jets selected Wilson No. 2 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft. They handed him the keys early in the 2021 season, and not they probably wish they hadn’t.

Wilson went 3-10 as a starter in his rookie year. He completed just 55.6 percent of his passes for 2,334 yards, nine touchdowns and 11 interceptions. New York and head coach Robert Saleh hoped for an improvement in year two. It didn’t come.

Wilson was somehow even worse in his second year as a starter. He battled injuries and went 5-4 in his nine starts, thanks in large part to a fantastic Jets defense. But he completed only 54.5 percent of his passes this time around for 1,688 yards, six touchdowns and seven interceptions.

Ultimately, Wilson was benched for backup Mike White and Saleh appears to have little faith that the former first round pick will sort things out.

While Saleh doesn’t seem to believe in Wilson, it’s clear that Wilson still believes in himself.

Zach Wilson Says He Will ‘Make Life Hell’ For Any QB The Jets Bring In

With Wilson’s struggles, it’s almost a certainty that New York will try to sign a veteran QB in free agency to compete for the starting job. But Wilson is unfazed by the competition.

“I’m going to make that dude’s life hell in practice every day,” Wilson said of his future competitor.

Honestly, it’s hard to knock him for the mindset. It would be more concerning if he didn’t think he could go out and compete for the job. Unfortunately for Jets fans, Wilson has shown no signs that he can help the team win even if he does win the job.

But hey, at least he has the support of his mom.
