Zach Wilson’s mother Lisa has come to her son’s defense once again as she posted a video on social media explaining the concussion situation that unfolded against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.

According to Lisa Wilson, the reason that Zach’s injury was not initially reported as a concussion was because he was not being 100% honest with the team doctors about his symptoms because he wanted to keep playing.

“Yesterday was a little bit rough, Zach took some really, really big hits and he fought through it and really tried to just stay out on the field. He didn’t want to go out, he didn’t want to stop playing — so he didn’t tell the sideline, the coaches, the trainers how he was really feeling and tried to just fight through it and be out there for his guys,” Wilson explained in a video posted to her Instagram Story.

“Finally, after one more blow to the head, he really started having problems with blurred vision and his depth perception. He really started worrying that he was actually going to hurt his team if he stayed out there because his vision was not right and how you can’t play like that.”

Wilson ultimately played just 22 snaps behind the Jets’ patchwork offensive line on Sunday and completed 4 of 11 passes for 26 yards and a lost fumble in the Jets’ 30-0 loss to the Miami Dolphins.

Given his concussion and the Jets season being officially eliminated from playoff contention, there’s a possibility that the game against the Dolphins will be his final as a member of the New York Jets, with reports indicating the Jets told him they would trade him in the offseason.

If the Jets do trade Wilson, they’ll undoubtedly need to bring in a new veteran QB to back up Aaron Rodgers, as there’s simply no guarantee the now 40-year-old QB who (allegedly) tore his achilles just four snaps in the 2023 season will look anything like his future Hall of Fame self next year.

With three games left on their schedule this season, the Jets will face off against the Washington Commanders, Cleveland Browns, and New England Patriots.
