Robert Saleh Cracks Up After Describing Zach Wilson’s Weight Gain With Another Funny Adjective

Earlier this month, New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh called Zach Wilson “beefy” ahead of the 2022 NFL season. Now he is doubling down with a different, but similar adjective and cracked himself up in the process.

Wilson, who was listed at a sizable 214 pounds last season, looks bigger. He spent the offseason on a strict weight training program and was also very focused on his eating habits.

As a result, he is noticeably stronger, or as Saleh put it — “beefy.”

Wilson reported early to minicamp and is hoping to find his groove in the NFL this fall. After minicamp wrapped earlier this month, OTAs began for many teams across the league late last week or early this week.

That was the case for the Jets.

Wilson was among those on the field Tuesday morning and looked like a quarterback who had been there before. He is no longer a rookie.

And he was putting in work.

Of course, after Saleh’s comments, there was a lot of emphasis placed on Wilson’s physical stature.

Once the day got underway and Saleh took the podium to speak with the media, he couldn’t help but laugh when he called Wilson “thick.” After trying to continue through his sentence and move past his adjective, he couldn’t contain his laughter and totally cracked up along with reporters in the audience.

Wilson struggled at times in 2021 but also showed flashes of greatness. Now that he is bigger and stronger, maybe it’ll be his breakout year?
