Laszlo Bock, CEO of Humu and the man famous for turning Google into one of the best workplaces in the world, sat down for “cheat sheet” LinkedIn video that hands out some solid advice about scoring a dream job.

The former head of People Operations at Google, Blocked poured over hundreds of resumes that led to the hiring of thousands of employees. He shares his advice for what it takes to standout, nail the interview and land a job.

Block explains:

“The best resumes I’ve seen follow exactly the same format. For every single topic, they start with, ‘here’s what I accomplished, here’s how I accomplished it, and here’s how I measured how it was accomplished. That simple formula really makes your resume stand out because it’s tangible, quantified and it allows me as an employer to very quickly see that this person can be compared to other people and stands out from the rest.”

Block also gives tips on how to handle the interview curveballs and how can you tell if a company is actually a good fit.

If there’s one thing I know, it’s the importance of cheat sheets. I wrote a book about cheat sheets, for crying out loud.
