Here’s Proof John Brooks’ Goal Set Twitter Ablaze

Before the World Cup began, experts unanimously agreed it would be the most-tweeted about event in the platform’s history.

Only time will tell if their prediction comes true. But in the meantime we have some particularly awesome data to analyze.

Take a gander at the United States heat map monitoring Twitter activity during yesterday’s match against Ghana. We often say Twitter exploded after a landmark event, but this time it really did explode.

It also appears a lot of people who claim to not care about soccer were, in fact, tweeting about soccer. Funny how that happens.
