This Cop’s Powerful Video Demanding Anyone Who Wears A Badge But Won’t Protect Black Lives Quit Is Going Viral

This week has seen two of the more horrific incidents of police shootings ever.

Both Alton Sterling and Philando Castile, both black, were gunned down by cops.

And while some people are speaking out in extremely ineffectual ways (cough cough, Mischa Barton), one cop took to Facebook to demand her fellow officers start acting differently.

In a moving seven-minute video, Nakia Jones, who has served in predominantly black neighborhoods since 1996, demands that cops who serve in areas that make them scared, that make them overreact, that leave them prone to using their guns, to take off their uniform.

It’s racism, she says, plain and simple.

“If you’re afraid to talk to an African-American female or a male, or Mexican male or female because they’re not white like you, take that uniform off! You have no business being a police officer!”

She agrees with the line, oft proffered, that all cops aren’t bad, and that it’s just a few bad apples, but asks all officers to speak up against those who are.

It’s a message everyone should listen to. And people are. Since it’s been posted, the video has been viewed over 3.6 million times.
