Study Says Shaving Your Pubes Increases Your Chances For An STD By 440%

Are you feeling a little crabby? Well, maybe it’s because you have an STD. Perhaps you got a sexually transmitted disease from shaving your pubic hair. A new scientific study suggests that those who are bare down there are more prone to catching an STD.

The discovery came from a survey of more than 7,500 American adults, published in Sexually Transmitted Infections, a specialist BMJ journal. The study said that those who removed all their pubic hair were at a 440% higher risk of getting an STD.

From the BBC:

Almost three-quarters of respondents said they had groomed their pubic hair before, with 84% of women and 66% of men saying they had trimmed, shaved or waxed in the past.

Among the groomers, 17% described themselves as “extreme” – removing all hair at least once a month – and 22% as “high frequency” – trimming daily or weekly.

In the survey, any type of grooming was linked to an increased risk of having a sexually transmitted infection. And the more frequent and extreme the grooming, the greater the risk.

Those with the most extreme habits were three to four times more likely to contract an STI, particularly infections from skin to skin contact such as herpes and HPV (human papillomavirus).

Doctors have derived two likely explanations for the link between grooming and STDs. They theorize that micro-tears in the skin allowed sexually transmitted diseases to be easily transferred from one person to another. The other reason is that those who groom their pubes are more likely to engage in risky sexual behavior with more sexual partners. Meanwhile, those who have poofy bushes in their nether regions are more likely to be in a long-term relationship where they don’t care if their partner gets a mouthful of pubes and can use it as floss.

They also found out that the electric razor was the grooming tool of choice for men, while a manual razor was what women preferred to carve a landing strip, Hitler’s mustache, or Devil’s beard out of their pubes. About one in five men and women used scissors. BE CAREFUL!!!

Here’s a lil song to get you in the mood for growing out your man bush.

Oh the chances for Chlamydia frightful,
No burning while peeing is so delightful,
And since you’re a male hoe,
Let it grow, let it grow, let it grow…
