Here’s How The World’s Strongest Man, Brian Shaw, Trains The Days Before Competition

The 2017 World’s Strongest Man competition is about to kick off, running from May 20th-23rd with this year’s Grand Final happening on the 27th and 28th. This year’s competition will take place in Gaborone, the capital of Botswana.

Leading up to this year’s World’s Strongest Man competition, the reigning champ Brian Shaw has been sharing a video each day on his YouTube channel as part of something he’s calling #ShawWeek. Yesterday, I shared a pretty incredible video with you bros in which Brian Shaw shows us what he eats while training for a World’s Strongest Man competition. The video spans a day in the life of Brian Shaw and shows what all seven of his meals look like, a cumulative amount of food that totals over 12,000 calories.

With the competition in Botswana just days away, the 4-time World’s Strongest Man champion (2011, 2013, 2015, and 2016) and current title holder took us through what training looks like as competition approaches. There’s obviously a very calculated finesse in how Brian Shaw lifts/trains before a competition, toeing the edge but careful not to exceed any limits that might hinder his ability to hit that next level in competition.

We’ll obviously be pulling for the World’s Strongest Man champion from Fort Lupton, Colorado as he takes on ‘The Mountain’ (Thor Julius Bjornsson) from HBO’s Game of Thrones. It’s always a great year when an American is crowned as the World’s Strongest Man, something that Brian Shaw is expected to do once again.
