The Houston Astros became this year’s World Series champions thanks in large part to the play of Jose Altuve, who is a top candidate for the American League MVP award that will be announced next week. The 5′ 6″ Venezuelan helped the city of Houston rally around the Astros at the time when they needed it most, but he’s not the only person to help the city recover in the wake of Hurricane Harvey.

J.J. Watt raised well over $30 million in donations for victims of the storm, and Altuve made sure his contribution didn’t go unnoticed. The shortstop bought 50 bottles of Crown Royal XR for his teammates and coaches after their victory, and he decided to send one to Watt to let him know he considered him part of the team.

Watt posted a picture of the gift on Twitter along with a photo of the heartfelt note that accompanied it.

The letter reads:

“From one H-Town brother to another, thanks for all you’ve done this year for the city we call home. Your support for all things Houston – from hurricane relief, to being our number one fan – has been nothing short of incredible. So I hope you’ll accept this fine whiskey gift I gave all my teammates following our championship win because to me, you’re absolutely part of the squad.

#HoustonStrong indeed.
