University Of Michigan Fraternities Cause $50,000 In Damage To Ski Resorts

Trips with college friends are fun. Especially ski trips, where you get to shred gnar all day and chug liquor all night. But three University of Michigan fraternities are being accused of taking it too far during their ski tip weekend. Apparently they caused a shitstorm of havoc on ski resorts in Northern Michigan and were asked to leave via police escort. Uh-oh! Via M-Live:

Sigma Alpha Mu, the only fraternity named in the report, stayed at Treetops Resorts in Gaylord last weekend. The resort’s general manager Barry Owens told the local news station that police had to escort the students out after they caused as much as $50,000 worth in damages. A video showed damaged walls and ripped-down ceiling tiles throughout the hotel.

Two other fraternities stayed at Boyne Highlands and are alleged to have caused significant damage in up to 12 private condos throughout the resort. Boyne general manager Mike Chumbler told the station they assessed a “significant” fee as the groups checked out, before he knew the extent of repairs that would be necessary.

What’s not cool is that some of the places they were staying in were privately-owned condos leased through the resort. So some property owners can’t be happy about the fratty shenanigans. But then, when you’re in a frat at an expensive school like UM and your dad total owns a dealership…

.. all that means is that he has to sell four Toyota Camrys this month to cover the bill. Go Big Blue!
