The 49ers did their best to counter Taylor Swift mania with a guest appearance of their own ahead of the NFC Championship, and they did so in the most San Francisco way possible.

NFL fans have seen Swift take over their television screens this year due to her relationship with Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

While she continues to boost the league’s ratings and exposure, many have grown tired of the seemingly endless number of in-game camera cuts showing her celebrating with the likes of Brittany and Jackson Mahomes.

That was again the case in the AFC title game between Kansas City and Baltimore where she went crazy in the suite after every Kelce catch.

A focal point of the matchup, we saw the Ravens go as far as to troll her “Swag Surfing” celebration after scoring their first touchdown on Sunday.

Frustrated with constantly seeing the pop icon on NFL broadcasts, there have been no shortage of complaints surrounding the league’s newfound obsession. Heck, Taylor herself might be growing tired of the attention.

Some may be looking for a counter to the Taylor Swift hysteria that’s now taken over. They’ve found their hero.

Viewers took a huge sigh of relief upon seeing a new music star in the spotlight for the NFC Championship. Images showed Grateful Dead guitarist Bob Weir on the field before the 49ers’ matchup against the Lions.

Weir is a San Francisco legend and one of the founding members of rock’s most popular jam band.

He played rhythm guitar while singing lead for many of the group’s hits. Following the death of Jerry Garcia in 1995, he went on to form a number of other bands, including Dead & Co. with superstar John Mayer.

A staple in the city’s music history, fans were quick to comment on Weir’s appearance in Levi’s Stadium.

“Bob Weir is the Bay Area’s Taylor Swift.”

“Please give me some Bob Weir cut aways.”

Bob Weir at the NFC Championship game rules!”

People always talking about TAYLOR SWIFT and not BOB WEIR.”

The older Bob Weir gets the more he looks like an actual gold panning 49er.”

Epic.
