Sports Illustrated held an open casting call for swimsuit models during Miami Swim Week and one model who showed up this past weekend, Jodi Harrison-Bauer, is drawing a lot of attention.

The reason for that is because Harrison-Bauer is not your average swimsuit model. She’s a two-time World Fitness America and World Fitness Universe champion and, oh yeah, she’s also a 58-year-old mom with two kids, both daughters, aged 30 and 26.

“I saw there were no specific age categories,” Harrison-Bauer told the New Haven Register. “That was my loophole to go for it.”

Harrison-Bauer, should she make the cut for the 2020 issue, would join supermodels Paulina Porizkova and Christie Brinkley as women over the age of 50 to recently pose for the swimsuit issue. The one difference that would make Harrison-Bauer’s appearance even more special is that unlike those other two models, she’s not famous.

“Whether I’m chosen or not. I’m doing this as another way to share who I am and encourage others along the way that it’s not too late to try something new,” said Harrison-Bauer, who combines 10 hours of resistance training and weight lifting with cardio each week to maintain her fitness.

“I’m 58 and I’ve never felt so confident in myself. I want to get my message out to all ages, but especially women over 50, to ignore expectations by being bold and stepping out of your comfort zone.”

Whether she ends up making the cut or not, Jodi Harrison-Bauer is certainly proof that age ain’t nothin’ but a number.
