You know you’ve become truly famous when movie fans start calling for you to be cast as a superhero, which is exactly what’s been happening to Reacher star Alan Ritchson.

And the hulking 41-year-old isn’t being fan cast as just any old superhero, but perhaps *the* superhero: the Caped Crusader, the Dark Knight, the Batman.

During a recent interview, the topic of Batman was broached and Ritchson wisely expressed interest in playing the iconic part, which has been previously portrayed on the big screen by Adam West, Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, George Clooney, Christian Bale, Ben Affleck, and Robert Pattinson.

“With all the rumors flying that I’m supposed to be playing Batman, how can I knock Batman? I would love to play Batman,” Ritchson politically said in an interview with Fortress of Solitude.

“You know, [Batman without a cape] is a great analogy, actually. But I mean, Batman has got like a cave, and Reacher doesn’t even have a house. He’s got a toothbrush. So, I think Batman has got cool stuff. Dude is loaded and has caves, penthouses, and spotlights that call him. Batman’s cooler.”

With James Gunn in the thick of pre-production on Superman: Legacy, there hasn’t been much news on The Brave and the Bold (the DCU’s Batman film), which is set to be directed by The Flash filmmaker Andy Muschietti.

We also haven’t heard much from Muschietti since the release of The Flash, which is perhaps understandable given how reviled the film was. Still, given his work on 2017’s It and the almost unprecedented levels of chaos that surrounded The Flash, we’re going to give him a pass on that one.

The DCU will officially kick off with the release of Gunn’s Superman: Legacy on July 11, 2025. At this time, The Brave and the Bold does not have an official release date.
