There are life-changing roles, and then there is what’s happened with Alan Ritchson and Reacher, which has made the 41-year-old actor so popular that he’s now being fan-cast as Batman.

Given what the character has done for his career, Ritchson has a great reverence for and understanding of the character, thus making him the ideal person to continue telling Reacher stories.

In season three, for example, the series is adapting what Ritchson believes is a “top five” Reacher story in Persuader, and in the coming years, he’s hoping to take a crack at Die Trying, his favorite of Lee Childs’ books.

“I’ve read all the books, there are some that I think will adapt to TV beautifully, there are some that may not, but are still great books. Die Trying is personally my favorite book. I hope and believe we could be getting to that one soon,” Ritchson told BroBible’s Post Credit Podcast ahead of the release of his new film Ordinary Angels.

“But Persuader is top five on almost every list when you talk about Reacher rankings, so I know it’s one of the crowd favorites and I’m really proud that we’re doing it. It is one of the really pure adventures where it’s just Reacher being Reacher, and he’s in a really interesting quandary for most of the story. I think it’s going to be a blast for people and I’m glad we’re doing it,” he explained.

Ritchson will next be seen starring in Ordinary Angels alongside Oscar winner Hillary Swank when it hits theaters on February 22. He’s also in production on season three of Reacher, which began shortly after the season two premiere in December.

Seasons one and two of Reacher are now streaming on Prime Video.
