Despite being in the midst of a grueling battle with pancreatic cancer, longtime Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek has admirably remained ever-present in our lives as he’s continued to soldier on as host of the iconic evening game show.

Following the announcement in March, Trebek revealed in May that he was responding “exceptionally well” to treatment, which would, therefore, allow him to return to his Jeopardy! hosting duties.

While Trebek was ultimately able to return as host for this season of Jeopardy! — its 36th season — he also announced that he would be undergoing an additional round of chemotherapy treatment to fight his pancreatic cancer.

Speaking CTV’s Lisa LaFlamme at the University of Ottawa, Trebek gave an update on his current condition, saying he’s “hanging in”:

“I’m hanging in. So we’re back on the chemo, and we’ll see if the numbers go down, and if they do, they can’t keep doing it forever, of course. I’ll have to find a new protocol or whatever to administer. We’ll play it by ear and keep chugging along until we either win or lose,” Trebek said to Fox6Now.

In that same interview, Trebek also revealed that he does not fear death due to the quality of his life thus far:

“I’m not afraid of dying. I’ve lived a good life, a full life, and I’m nearing the end of that life … if it happens, why should I be afraid that?” Trebek said.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Trebek, his friends, family, and loved ones during this difficult time.
