Amsterdam Is Telling Tourists From One Country To Stay Away Due To Their Awful Behavior

Europe is home to a ton of cities steeped in centuries of history and culture, and there is certainly no shortage of options to pick from if you’re on the hunt for a place to get away.

That includes Amsterdam, which is an incredibly attractive destination for anyone looking to get a taste of what The Netherlands has to offer thanks in no small part to its many art museums and gorgeous architecture.

Of course, if you’re familiar with Amsterdam, you’re probably aware it also offers some slightly less savory extracurricular activities thanks to its somewhat infamous Red Light District and the “coffeeshops” that rely on marijuana to generate the bulk of their revenue (as well as the “smart shops” that specialize in the sale of psychedelic truffles).

Those aspects have been a gift and a curse for the city, which has undoubtedly benefitted from the money tourists in search of drugs and booze-fueled adventures have brought into the country but has also debated banning non-residents from purchasing weed thanks to the type of behavior many of those visitors end up exhibiting.

Now, it’s mounted a fairly bold campaign targeting one particular group of individuals who’ve apparently overstayed their welcome.

According to Hypebeast, the city’s tourism agency has rolled out some new PSAs targeted at British tourists between the age of 18 and 35 informing them to not even bother making the trek to Amsterdam if their only goal is to party while there.

The spots are intended to preemptively ward off members of that group by threatening them with fines and arrest if they fail to stay on their best behavior (the outlet reports people who comprise that demo who search for things like “stag party Amsterdam” and “cheap hotel Amsterdam” online will be greeted with the videos as part of a paid campaign).

I can’t say I have any personal experience with British tourists in Amsterdam, but those mad lads must be something very wrong if the city was forced to resort to this.
