‘Andor’ Ignites Intense Debate With Scene Depicting An Imperial Officer Attempting Assault On Adria Arjona’s Character

The second and final season of the critically acclaimed Star Wars series Andor premiered last week, releasing the first three episodes in its 12-episode season. Andor is a prequel series that leads directly into the events of the 2016 film Rogue One, which details how the Rebellion obtained the plans to destroy the Death Star.

The three episodes feature an arc with Adria Arjona’s character Bix Caleen rebuffing the flirtatious attempts of an Imperial officer, who eventually decides to try and sexually assault her. The assault isn’t implied, either, it’s explicit, as Bix Caleen clearly yells out in fear and desperation, “He tried to r— me!”

Star Wars has always brought out the most smooth-brained of pop culture fans and the reaction to Andor’s depiction of attempted sexual assault — an undeniably adult topic that is absolutely relevant to a story of a fascistic empire taking control of society upon society — has been no different, with a handful of “popular” Star Wars content creators getting ripped for their immature and generally clueless opinions of the scene.

Star Wars Theory, an already famously-whiny Star Wars YouTuber, had the insane take that sexual assault is not something that Darth Vader — yes, Darth Vader, the character known for killing children and destroying entire planets that’s also perhaps the definitive portrayal of a ‘villain’ in the history of American movies — would abide by.

Another viral tweet that ripped the inclusion of attempted sexual assault in Andor — this one from “thatstarwarsgirl” — has also been throughly roasted.

“‘Star Wars CANNOT handle mature topics’ is one of the biggest reasons why we’ve gotten nothing but dogs— for years I’m NGL,” another viral response added.

“The empire is a fascist regime it makes absolute sense for officers to abuse their power. What do you mean doesn’t belong in star wars?! Isn’t that the whole point of Andor, exploring the brutal empire and the mixed morality of rebel factions? Not everything is about the U.S.,” another added.

The next three episodes of Andor will hit Disney+ on April 29, followed by another three episodes on May 6 and the final three on May 13. It is currently the highest-rated live-action Star Wars project of all time.
