Scary Movie star says that a joke about Melania Trump was cut from the film. Faris said she had the idea of playing her character Cindy Campbell as someone who is in the “MAGA rabbit hole.”

During a recent interview, Anna Faris detailed how a bit where she mocked Melania Trump’s “Be Best” campaign was cut from the film. “Be Best” was First Lady Melania Trump’s official White House initiative, launched in May 2018 during Trump’s first term, that focused on well-being, social media abuse, and opioid abuse.

Actress Anna Faris detailed the Melania Trump joke that was cut out of the new Scary Movie film

“’There was a moment where I am getting wasted, like so drunk… I am in my truck and I look into the rearview mirror and I say, ‘Be best, Cindy Campbell. Be best,’ Faris said about one moment during filming in which she shaded Melania Trump and her Be Best campaign. ‘That didn’t make it, but I liked my little winking there.’

“Faris said she ‘was always pushing for Cindy to be classic MAGA rabbit hole’ in the movie, adding: ‘The kind of person that you saw outside of the Walmart during quarantine that was raising some kind of crazy-ass fuss.'” [Variety via Dexerto]

Faris stars as Cindy Campbell in Scary Movie alongside fellow returning cast members Regina Hall, Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Jon Abrahams, Lochlyn Munro, Cheri Oteri, Dave Sheridan, and Chris Elliott. It marks Faris’ return to the franchise after skipping Scary Movie 5, the first appearance of Hall and the Wayans brothers since Scary Movie 2.

Hitting theaters on June 5, Scary Movie has grossed over $109 million at the global box office despite a brutal 24% critics score and middling 68% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. You can check out the official trailer for Scary Movie below.
