Given the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s track record in recent years and the seemingly cash-grab conceit of having former Iron Man star Robert Downey Jr. play Doctor Doom, MCU fans have been understandably trepidatious about the prospects of Avengers: Doomsday.
Reports about early test screenings, however, may begins to quell those concerns. According to reports — which very well could be a planted story to begin drumming up hype — Marvel Studios held a private test screening of a pre-reshoots cut of the film for select staff, with Marvel president Kevin Feige in attendance.
Marvel Studios reportedly held a test screening for Avengers: Doomsday and some reactions say it’s the Russo Brothers’ best MCU movie yet
Insiders say that those present “were very pleased with it,” with some also calling it the Russo Brothers’ best MCU movie year. Joe and Anthony Russo previously helmed Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.
The timing of these reports conveniently lines up with CinemaCon 2026, which is kicking off in Las Vegas today, April 13, with Disney taking the stage Thursday April 16 — the final day of the convention. The film’s poster is already featured in the event’s main hallways, and a trailer is widely expected to be revealed.
Avengers: Doomsday, directed by the Russo Brothers from a screenplay by Stephen McFeely and Michael Waldron, centers on Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom unleashing an attack across the multiverse, bringing together the Avengers, New Avengers, Fantastic Four, Wakandans, and the X-Men.
