Only three months ago, Bam looked healthy and was back skating. In an interview three months ago, the 38-year-old Jackass star said he doesn’t drink any alcohol. Sadly, it appears that Bam has fallen off the wagon. Margera was arrested on Sunday morning for DUI and he was the one that approached police while he was reportedly intoxicated.
TMZ is reporting that Bam was driving when he noticed CHP officers had pulled over another motorist. So the alleged drunk Margera thought it was a great idea to pull his own car to the shoulder and talk to the police. While chit-chatting with the police, the officers smelled a strong scent of alcohol on Bam. Police instructed Margera to take a field sobriety test, which he failed. Bam was then arrested and charged with driving under the influence. The Jackass star paid his $15,000 bail and was released around 2:30 Sunday afternoon.
This is really depressing news, considering that it appeared that Bam was apparently getting his life back on track. It’s also extremely disappointing that Bam would drive drunk considering that his best friend Ryan Dunn was killed while drunk driving in 2011.
Hopefully, Bam doesn’t spiral back to his dark days of alcoholism where he would “wake up around 11 AM and instantly start drinking vodka and purple Gatorade; by the end of the night, I would probably have ten pints worth of it.” Bam has admitted that he used to go on a “three-day bender of drinking and then five days of not drinking. When that five days ended, I would go on a two-day bender.” Let’s hope this is a wakeup call to Bam and he gets the help he needs especially since he just had his first child two weeks ago.
