It’s amazing how styles come in and out of trend over the course of decades. In the 60s and 70s, if your dad didn’t have a mustache as thick as Tom Selleck’s, are you sure your dad was even a man? That style started to disappear throughout the 80s, was mostly gone by the 90s and 00s, and now if you walk down the streets of Brooklyn, Austin, or Oakland you’ll see more dudes with facial hair than guys that are cleanly shaven.
I recently came across an Instagram account that pays homage to the dads of yesteryear. It’s called @oldschooldads and it’s a history porn style account that’s similar to the likes of @VintageFrat and @YourDadsAmerica, two of my favorite accounts on the ‘gram. I figured since we just wrapped up Father’s Day 2018, today would be as good a day as any to introduce you dudes to the @oldschooldads account so you can get in on the ground floor (only 12.5K followers) before it blows up. The lettuce, the flow, the beards and mustaches. These dads from the 60s, 70s, and 80s knew what was up:
