A woman says she spotted several mice at a Brazilian steakhouse after praising its food. The restaurant comped her meal.
A woman says she thought she had found the best Brazilian steakhouse she had ever visited—until the restaurant’s other guests started scurrying around.
TikTok user @alijetoi shared a storytime about a recent meal that started with her enthusiastically praising the restaurant’s menu and ended with her spotting several mice inside the establishment.
The video, captioned, “Story time of how I was eating with rodents,” has viewers following along as she explains why she ultimately didn’t have to pay for the meal.
The Brazilian Steakhouse’s Menu
The customer begins the video by explaining why she was excited to eat at the restaurant in the first place.
Unlike some Brazilian steakhouses that primarily focus on the expected cuts of steak, she was impressed by the variety of food available.
At first, everything seemed to be going perfectly.
Then she noticed something moving.
Mice Spotted At Restaurant
As she was sipping the last of her wine, she spotted a small mouse across the restaurant.
“And then the friend come out!” she says in the TikTok.
She alerted restaurant employees about the two rodents she had seen.
According to the woman, the restaurant initially offered to make it up to her by comping dessert. But the situation wasn’t over.
Frustrated, she went to the bathroom, prepared to document her experience. As luck would have it, she documented her encounter with another mouse while making her way back to the table.
At that point, she decided it was time to get management involved.
Management Vs. Mice-Sightings
A manager was called over, and she explained that mice were apparently making their way around the restaurant.
“Y’all critters is running around,” she says in the video, adding that every worker at the restaurant realized she spotted them and wasn’t exactly smiling at the sightings.
She also captured footage of what appears to be a mouse climbing up a curtain near the restaurant’s dining area and tables and shared her videos with management.
That sight was enough to change the tone of the evening.
“We were literally the last customers,” she explains.
And, eventually, she says the restaurant decided to take care of the entire bill.
By the end of the story, she explains that she and her party still left a generous tip because the restaurant had taken care of the check.
The experience left her with a complicated review of the restaurant. She apparently loved the food enough to call it the best Brazilian steakhouse she’d been to. But the presence of multiple mice understandably changed the experience.
What Should You Do If You See Mice At A Restaurant?
Seeing one mouse in a restaurant can be unsettling. Seeing multiple rodents, particularly near areas where customers are eating, is a more serious food-safety concern.
If you encounter rodents at a restaurant, consider notifying a manager immediately and documenting what you saw if it can be done safely. If you believe there is a potential health-code violation, you can also contact the local health department responsible for restaurant inspections.
And while this woman’s story ended with a comped meal and a tip for the staff, her video highlights an uncomfortable reality: Sometimes guests at dinner aren’t on the reservation.
This customer didn’t name the restaurant since she said they did right by her. BroBible reached out to the TikToker to find out the establishment to request a comment and to see if she had anything else to add to her experience. We’ve yet to hear back.
