Couple Does Photo Shoot On Carnival Cruise. She Didn’t Know It Would Cost $12K: ‘That’s More Than The Cost Of The Cruise’

If you’re setting out on a Carnival Cruise, you can expect the voyage to get a little pricy along the way. But one passenger and her husband were left stunned when they were seemingly charged over $12,000 for a photobook of professional pictures.

Previously, multiple TikTokers have gone viral for sharing their experiences with the Carnival Cruise drinks package. But the cost of that is nothing compared to what TikTok user Annie (@diymomannie) encountered when she was shown the results of a professional photoshoot by Carnival.

The video, which has garnered 137,600 views, begins with Annie and her husband being taken to see the photos. The on-screen text says: “Our $12,000 photoshoot on our cruise ship.”

Then, the couple is shown a slideshow of some of the photos taken, like pictures of Annie and her husband.

“You took 94 photos?” the TikToker asked. The staff member then added that none of the photos were cropped.

As the worker flicked through the photo album, he appeared to tell them that, depending on size, the book is $12,299. He went on to say that, depending on the number of photos, this could be reduced to $400. In response, Annie asks if there’s anything under $100. The worker says no, and Annie thanks them for their time.

What Did Commenters Say?

Commenters couldn’t get over the steep price.

“They would make more money and waste less time and resources if they just had reasonable prices and presented them before the photoshoot…” one wrote.

“We managed to get all the photos of my wife and I and my parents throughout the 11-day trip including their vow renewal, 1 set of printed photos and 2 USB sticks for around $400 back in 2018 on a Holland American ship,” a second shared. “There was around 110-140 photos.”

“Unbelievable,” a third commented. “I’m not sure who’s paying those prices, that’s insane.”

“You think they have ever sold one of those packages?” a fourth queried.

Then a fifth chimed in, “I was complaining about $475 and I’m a photographer so for me my mind was blown. I was only gonna get I believe 5 photo. For the book that’s insane. Y’all looked great but not worth it.”

How Much Do Carnival Cruises’ Photoshoot Packages Cost?

Carnival Cruise calls its photography packages Pixels Photography Packages. On the website, there are four main photography packages. Firstly, there’s the Dreams Studio Essential, which costs $149. This includes two 10×13 prints.

The second cheapest package is the Dreams Studio Classic for $299. This includes three 10×13 photos, three digital photos on a USB stick and professional retouching.

Thirdly, there is the Dreams Studio Plus that costs $499. Customers will receive a 6-page, 6×6 “Accordion-style” album and six digital photos, along with professional retouching.

The fourth, final, and most expensive package is the Dreams Studio Premium Package. It costs $749. Customers will receive one 6-page, “Accordion style” 8×8 album, three enlarged 10×13 photos, and six digital pictures that are professionally retouched. They will also receive a free photo calendar.

All of these packages also include a 15-30 minute shoot with a photographer.

However, with these four package choices, it is unclear how the cost of this customer’s photoshoot ended up being offered at between $4,000 and $12,000. Perhaps there is more flexibility on the number of photos one can buy on board. After all, the album in the video definitely looked like it contained closer to 94 photos. Several commenters also suggested that the worker might have meant $1,299.
