As the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to expand onwards and upwards, the cast of characters is inherently going to grow and continue to introduce mainstream audiences to superheroes they’ve never heard of before. Think the Guardians of the Galaxy prior to their 2014 breakout hit.

With Phase 4 slated to begin next May with the release of Black Widow, the MCU is about to expand far wider than it’s ever been before, as they’re set to introduce the Celestials into the Marvel Cinematic Universe when Eternals hits theaters on November 6, 2020.

The Celestials and the Eternals are easily the most cosmic characters the MCU has ever introduced, as they’re a group of “powerful extraterrestrial cosmic beings” who have “influenced key events in human history for mysterious and unclear reasons”, according to Fandom. And now, we’ve got our first look at them.

Marvel Studios’ senior visual development concept artist Rodney Fuentebella unveiled the concept art image on his Instagram page, giving fans their first look at the Celestials, who are some of the oldest and most powerful beings in Marvel lore:

The Celestials have been vaguely teased in the MCU before, as the planet of Knowhere in Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers: Infinity War is built inside the head of a Celestial.

The film — which stars Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Lauren Ridloff, Brian Tyree Henry, Salma Hayek, Lia McHugh, and Don Lee — is set to be released in theaters in the United States on Friday, November 6, 2020.

Jolie is set to portray Thena, while Madden (Game of Thrones), will be portraying Ikaris. Furthermore, Brian Tyree Henry is on board to portray Phastos and Salma Hayek will be playing Ajak, who is the leader of the Eternals.

Eternals will be the twenty-fifth (!!!) entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe and will be the second movie in Phase 4 following Black Widow.
