Given how expensive everything is these days, it’s understandable that people are trying to find ways to save while dining.
For some, this means making the difficult decision to actually learn to cook. For others, this just means being more careful about where you decide to eat. According to an October 2025 YouGov poll, around half of all Americans are responding to high prices by going to cheaper restaurants, using coupons, and/or ordering fewer items.
Some restaurants are responding to this by offering budget deals or enhanced loyalty programs. For example, McDonald’s announced in 2025 that it would be rolling back prices on certain items after its CEO seemed to say that the menu had become too expensive.
About those loyalty programs, there’s currently talk of Chipotle launching its own subscription. But is it real? And if so, how much will it cost?
Is Chipotle Launching A Subscription Service?
In a video with over 826,000 views, TikTok user Bryce (@brysofly_) shares his thoughts on an alleged $59 Chipotle subscription service.
“If Chipotle comes out with that $59 per month subscription for burritos—I assume it’s one per day—that actually might reset the economy,” he starts.
From here, he does the math.
“The average person spends about $200 to $300 on groceries,” he says. “If you can spend $59 and get one burrito per day—the average person probably takes maybe like two meals to eat a burrito—and then maybe you get some eggs for breakfast, you’re spending about maybe 85 to 100 per month on groceries.”
“They’re gonna save a lot of people’s pockets with this one,” he concludes.
Is This Real?
Sorry, burrito fans. The “$59 burrito subscription” is a hoax.
This rumor appears to have started on Instagram with an account called The Nuttington Post—an account that advertises itself as “Daily headlines you wish were real.” As its Instagram bio says, the headlines it posts are “fake news.”
The post announcing this alleged burrito subscription is pretty obviously fake once one reads the caption. In the caption, it’s advertised that the alleged $59 subscription will come with “unlimited meals” and that “executives at Chipotle say this is a mastermind plan that will make them an ‘excessive amount’ of money.”
Despite being fake, the post proved pretty popular. It currently has over 63,000 likes and even attracted the attention of Chipotle itself, which left a comment showing a confused DJ Khaled. The post also led to viral shares on other social media platforms. For example, one AI-generated clip discussing the fake news as though it was real now has over 1.3 million views.
For their part, Chipotle told BroBible in an email that the monthly burrito subscription is “fake.”
Commenters Are Skeptical
In the comments section, users were skeptical—not because the news was fake, but because they didn’t trust Chipotle to actually serve them a proper burrito for that price.
“They’d drastically reduce the portion size,” wrote a user.
“I love the idea but the quality of the burrito is gonna be horrible,” offered another.
Some who believed this fake news used it as evidence for their feelings on the current state of the economy.
“Welcome to the future gang, subscription based everything that can be. Surge pricing on everything that can’t be. It’ll start with a value but so did Uber Eats and DoorDash in the beginning,” declared a user.
“I cannot add chipotle to the ever growing list of stuff i have to be subscribed to,” said another. “It’s bad enough I have to subscribe to the printer I own that is in my own house.”
BroBible reached out to Chipotle and Bryce via email.
