Remember Christen Harper? A few years ago, when the Detroit Lions were facing the prospect of a winless season, Harper’s reaction to finding out the Lions won — and therefore her boyfriend Jared Goff — had won their first game of the year went viral (for obvious reasons).
Fast forward to 2023 and Harper is not only still with Goff, but the pair are engaged to be married.
During a recent interview on Kelly Stafford’s podcast — whose husband’s trade to the Rams saw Goff go the other way to the Lions — Harper detailed what she felt when she found out that her quarterback boyfriend had been traded from Detroit to Los Angeles.
“I remember hearing Detroit and I was like, ‘Wait, what?’ I’ve never been there, and of course, I’ve never been to Michigan either, and so I had never heard a single positive thing about Detroit, and so I was really not sure what we were getting ourselves into. And then of course you get there and I’m like, ‘This place is amazing,'” Harper told Stafford.
Despite now spending some time in Detroit, Harper is still as successful as ever as she appeared in the 2023 edition of Sports Illustrated’s iconic swimsuit issue, which also features spreads from the likes of Livvy Dunne (who apparently rizzed up Baby Gronk — can you believe it?!) and Padma Lakshmi.
Heading into the 2023 season, Goff’s Lions are looking to make the playoffs for the first time since 2016. Dan Campbell’s upstart Lions (9–8) came close last year, as they were able to finish out the 2022 season on an 8-2 roll that saw them just barely miss out on a Wild Card berth on the final day of the season (but also spoil the Packers’ season in the process).
