A man in Connecticut has reported encountering an 8-foot-tall “creature” he believes was Bigfoot due to its “coarse, matted and greasy-looking brown hair.”
Kevin Klimas, from Westerly, claims that early on July 5, he was in Voluntown when he had to stop his car after he had just crossed a bridge over the Pachaug River after seeing the Bigfoot cross in front of him.
“This area is the middle of the woods,” he told the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization (BFRO). “Super dark. I’d guess I went no more than 200 yards like this when I witnessed something jump into the road from my right heading to the woods on my left. I had to hit my brakes to avoid a collision with this thing. Upon doing so, I witnessed a bipedal, 8-to 8-1/2-foot-tall creature swiftly crossing the road.
“It had coarse, matted, and greasy-looking long brown hair covering every part of its body I could see. Its legs were shorter than its torso and its arms literally hung down to right around knee height.”
Klimas also described the Bigfoot as having a “wingspan” of 8 to 9 feet and as “extremely broad in the shoulders,” at least 4 feet across.
“The top of its head seemed to cone up slightly and it had a jawline any pugilist would kill for<” he continued. “Minimal hair on its face. It stepped onto the road, took another step, then a third step which put it back into the woods on the opposite side of the road. Walked more like a human than any other animal. I was (and remain) dumbstruck. Took me a minimum of 60-90 seconds to regain control of my faculties and get my car moving again. Make no mistake. This was not a bear. This was a cryptid. I’m no longer a skeptic. I’m certain of that.”
The Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization conducted a followup investigation
BFRO investigator Mike Young later followed up by interviewing the Klimas two days later at the location of the Bigfoot sighting.
“It was terrifying,” Klimas said in his interview with Young. “It was the craziest experience of my life. I’ve got a lot of people who believe me and a lot of detractors at work who are saying, ‘Oh, you must have been messed up.’ I don’t drink. I don’t party in any way. Not in 15 years.”
BFRO investigator Matt Moneymaker also spoke with Klimas about the encounter. He noted in his report that there have been three publicly posted reports in the BFRO database from the same county in Connecticut. There are also 22 non-vetted reports from this same county in the internal BFRO database.
One of the reports publicly posted in the database is from October 2019 and is almost identical to what Kevin Klimas witnessed.
“This description is almost identical to what Kevin told me,” Young told The Day. “Built like a male. Looked like a male. No genitalia visible. V-taper. Well-built trapezius. The witness said it was very healthy. Long arms. Gentle swing. Elbow was always bent when he swung its arms. Thick thighs.”
