‘Deadpool 3’ Set Photos Hint At The Film’s Potentially Insane Plot

Yesterday, Ryan Reynolds released the first official photo from the set of Deadpool 3, which showed off both his Merc with a Mouth and the return of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.

Not only that but Jackman’s Wolverine is also seen wearing the character’s iconic yellow-and-blue costume for the first time in cinema history.

Given how media savvy Ryan Reynolds is, the reason he dropped this first-look photo likely has to do with the fact that paparazzi pictures from the set of the film hit the internet just a few hours later.

Of all the set photos to leak online — some of which show Deadpool and Wolverine apparently fighting each other — the most interesting is perhaps one of the film’s actual set, which appears to feature a ruined, post-apocalyptic 20th Century Fox logo.

20th Century Fox, of course, is the studio that made Reynolds’ Deadpool movies and Jackman’s X-Men movies before they were acquired by Disney a few years back.

Given the confirmed presence of Owen Wilson’s Mobius and the Time Variance Authority in the film, the set photos have led to theories that Deadpool and Wolverine were pruned by the TVA and were sent to The Void, which is a post-apocalyptic wasteland seen in season one of the Disney+ series Loki.

Alongside Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman as Deadpool and Wolverine, Deadpool 3 is also set to star Emmy winner and Succession star Matthew Macfayden and The Crown star Emma Corrin. Morena Baccarin, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, Brianna Hildebrand, Shioli Kutsuna, Stefan Kapicic, and Rob Delaney also have roles in the film.

Directed by Shawn Levy, Deadpool 3 — which is set to be the first R-rated film in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe — is currently scheduled to hit movie theaters in the United States on May 6, 2024.
