Here’s the thing about Eddie Murphy: while it’s been a since his movies have consistently had their fastball, he himself will *always* have his.

Case in point: his acceptance of the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the Golden Globes on Tuesday night, which saw him take a swipe at Will Smith’s infamous slap of Chris Rock at last year’s Academy Awards.

“I’ve been doing this a long time, so I could stand up here and keep thanking people until they play the piano. But I’m gonna wrap it up and say something to all the up-and-coming dreamers and artists that are in the room tonight. I want to let you know that there is a definitive blueprint that you can follow to achieve success, prosperity, longevity, and peace of mind. There’s a blueprint, and I followed it [for] my whole career,” Murphy said.

“It’s very simple. You just do these three things,” Murphy continued. “Pay your taxes. Mind your business. And keep Will Smith’s wife’s name out of your f***ing mouth!”

The 2023 Golden Globes were full of fan-favorite winners, such as Michelle Yeoh for Best Actress in a Musical/Comedy and Colin Farrell for Best Actor in the same category.

Similarly, Ke Huy Quan took home the award for Best Supporting Actor for his work in Everything Everywhere All At Once, while Angela Bassett took home Best Supporting Actress for her performance in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever — the first-ever Golden Globe win for a Marvel Cinematic Universe actress.

As for the Best Picture categories, Steven Speilberg’s semi-autobiographical film The Fabelmans won in Drama while Martin McDonagh’s The Banshees of Inisherin won in Musical/Comedy.
