Austin Butler took home the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama for his work as the King of Rock and Roll in Baz Luhrman’s Elvis on Tuesday night.

Unfortunately for Butler, though, most of the pop culture world didn’t seem to care as they were focused on something else entirely: the fact that Butler *still* seems to be talking like Elvis despite the fact that he finished making the movie months, if not years ago.

It’ll be interesting to see if Butler still sounds like this when he stars in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Two later this eyar.

It’s not just a handful of people making the jokes, either, as virtually everyone watching the broadcast seemed to notice Butler’s voice:

The memes have gotten so out of hand that Butler even addressed the accusations that he’s still talking like Elvis while speaking to the press after the ceremony:

In addition to Butler as Elvis, the film stars Tom Hanks, Olivia DeJonge, Helen Thomson, Richard Roxburgh, David Wenham, Kodi Smit-McPhee, and Luke Bracey. Elvis is currently streaming over on HBO Max.

As for the other winners at the Golden Globes, Cate Blanchett won for Best Actress in a Drama Film, while Michelle Yeoh and Colin Farrell won in the comedy categories. Best Picture – Drama was awarded to Steven Spielberg’s The Fabelmans while Best Picture – Comedy/Musical went to The Banshees of Inisherin.

You can also check out Butler’s Elvis voice-tinged acceptance speech, which sees him shout out Brad Pitt and Quentin Tarantino (his breakout role was in Once Upon A Time In Hollywood back in 2019) below:

In addition to Dune: Part Two, 2023 will also see Butler star alongside Tom Hardy, Micheal Shannon, and Jodie Comer in Jeff Nichols’ The Bikeriders.
