Hudson Westbrook is not Vincent Mason and Vincent Mason is not Hudson Westbrook, even though Ella Langley got them confused. The biggest female artist in country music (right now) caused an identity crisis throughout CMA Fest weekend in Nashville!
Westbrook became Mason and Mason became Westbrook.
This hilarious country music mixup started at the end of May. Langley is currently on tour with Riley Green. Wyatt McCubbin and Mason served as the openers in Youngstown, Ohio. It was Mason, not Westbrook.
However, Langley accidentally gave a shoutout to Westbrook as the opener instead of Mason while on stage during her set. She later apologized for the “oopsie” because she obviously knows the difference between the two artists and just so happened to say the wrong name.
It was a little bit awkward, but Mason and Westbrook were smart. Especially the former. They actively leaned into the confusion instead of taking offense to the blunder. Both of their names were trending on social media for about 12 hours. Both artists got a solid bump in terms of brand recognition.
Hudson Westbrook, at this current moment, is the “bigger” of the two. He has 5.6 monthly listeners on Spotify, more than 900,000 followers on TikTok, and ~500K followers on Instagram.
Vincent Mason is more on the rise but he is not too far behind with more than two million monthly listeners on Spotify and more than 350,000 combined followers on TikTok and Instagram. His song ‘Hell Is A Dance Floor’ has been streamed more than 75 million times.
That leads us to CMA Fest! Both artists descended upon Music City for the biggest weekend in country music. They had a lot of fun at Ella Langley’s expense.
It started at Spotify House. Vincent Mason wore Hudson Westbrook’s guitar strap.
Ella commented “cute” on their follow-up video.
They also made sure to establish themselves as different people.
