The other day we got some keen insight into some of the machinations that went into creating the biggest blockbuster movie ever created from Avengers: Endgame directors Joe and Anthony Russo.

Oh, and of course…

Appearing on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the Russo bros talked about several things including the future of Captain America now that Steve Rogers has given up the shield. THey also discussed whether or not Sam was the right choice to take over the mantle.

The brothers also gave their opinion on whether or not we’d ever see Chris Evans wielding the shield again in the future. (They weren’t very optimistic, but you can never say never.)

The Russo brothers also shared an amazing fact about the somber scene at Tony Stark’s funeral where anyone and everyone ever attached to Iron Man showed up to pay their respects.

All in all, it was quite the interview.

And yet, there was still a LOT more that the Russo brothers were willing to discuss when it comes to their final film in the MCU. Apparently, they were just getting started.

For instance, they also talked about how there was supposed to be a fight scene that never made into the final cut of the movie. It involved fat Thor running into ripped Thor during his and Rocket’s visit to Asgard.

“We did have a sequence where they finally confront each other in Asgard. I can’t remember exactly why we moved off it. I think it got overly complicated, and we liked Cap versus Cap better,” explained the brothers.

“I think there we also deferred to the storyline of Thor and his mother, which was more resonate,” they continued. “That was more part of Thor’s journey and repair than confronting his former self.”

In another recent interview with the Los Angeles Times, Joe and his brother Anthony Russo were asked numerous more questions including how it feels now that this chapter of Marvel’s story is over (a complicated mix of emotions), what was it like shooting Robert Downey Jr.’s last scenes (a sense of coming full circle), their reaction to the record-breaking box office (it’s reflective of the audience’s appreciation), and much more.

However, the one question that many of us asked once the movie was finished had to with the God of Mischief that’ve come to know and love.

Since Loki vanishes with the Tesseract, could he still be alive in the new timeline or would Cap returning the stones undo that?

AR: Loki could absolutely still be alive in an alternate timeline.

That’s all we wanted to hear.
