The final trailer for 'Dune: Part Three' has been released

The final trailer for Dune: Part Three is here, and Paul Atreides is facing a reckoning. Dune: Part Three hits theaters on December 18.

Warner Bros. released the last look at Denis Villeneuve’s trilogy closer, set nearly two decades after Paul seized control of the Imperium. Timothée Chalamet’s Paul, now known as Muad’Dib, has become an emperor, and the final trailer makes clear that the film will find him as a genocidal dictator with a growing list of enemies, including his former love, Chani, played by Zendaya.

“After years of combat, I have become the oppressor Chani had sworn to fight,” Paul admits in the trailer.

Warner Bros. released the final Dune: Part Three trailer, showing Timothée Chalamet’s Paul Atreides as an emperor facing the fallout of his rule

The official synopsis says Paul is haunted by visions of Imperial collapse and the return of a long-lost love, while Chani sits at the center of a conspiracy.

“Dune: Part Three is set nearly two decades after Paul Atreides seized control of the Imperium. Now a ruthless Emperor, Paul must face the consequences of his reign as old allies return, terrifying new threats emerge, and betrayal lurks in every shadow,” the official synopsis reads.

“Haunted by visions of Imperial collapse and the reappearance of his long-lost love, Paul is drawn into a sweeping conspiracy, with Chani at the heart of its unfolding mystery. As rebellion brews and enemies close in, Paul must confront the true cost of power and the fate of those he loves the most.”

Villeneuve called his trilogy capper “a sophisticated epilogue” to the first two films, while Chalamet has described it as “a standalone movie, in a sense. It’s its own beast.”

The trilogy began with Dune in 2021 and continued with Dune: Part Two in 2024, which ended with Paul claiming the throne and a holy war about to launch in his name.

The new film adapts Frank Herbert’s Dune Messiah, the darker follow-up to the original novel. Jason Momoa, Florence Pugh, Rebecca Ferguson, Anya Taylor-Joy, Javier Bardem, and Josh Brolin are also listed in the cast. Robert Pattinson joins as Scytale, a mysterious figure who appears set to cause trouble for Paul’s empire.

Dune: Part Three opens in theaters and IMAX on December 18. That is the same day Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters.
