Earlier this week we got our first look at the eagerly-anticipated (at least by me) Birds of Prey movie starring Margot Robbie reprising her popular Suicide Squad character Harley Quinn.
The brief teaser didn’t show us much, but we did get quick glimpses of Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), Black Canary (Jurnee Smollett-Bell), Victor Zsasz (who is not bald for some reason), and Ewan McGregor as Black Mask. Of course, Robbie, as a new-look Harley Quinn, was the central figure of the video.
And if we needed more proof that they are finally, actually filming the movie, which is actually titled Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn)… no, I’m not kidding… we now have some new photos from the set. (This is becoming a recurring theme for DC Comics movies with ties to The Joker.)
In the photos we get to see Robbie’s Harley Quinn looking quite different from how she looked in Suicide Squad.
And there’s another batch of pics that show Harley visiting an exotic pet store, leading people to speculate that she may be purchasing her two pet laughing hyenas, Bud and Lou.
So far with regard to the movie’s plot, all we know is what the folks over at Flickering Myth have told us. They say the movie “will see Harley moving on from her abusive relationship with The Joker as she teams with The Huntress, Black Canary and Detective Renee Montoya to help protect young Cassandra Cain from the mob boss Black Mask.”
The movie also stars Rosie Perez, Elle Jay Basco, Ali Wong, Robert Catrini, and Steven Williams with Cathy Yan directing.
Birds of Prey is scheduled to hit theaters on February 7, 2020.
